In short: VideoCore Lens shows VideoCore's analytics on top of YouTube. It reads the YouTube video and channel you're viewing so it can fetch public stats and show you scores. It does not sell your data and does not track your browsing outside YouTube. It stores a sign-in token on your own device, and — when you're signed in — keeps a private history (visible only to you) of the YouTube videos you check with the Lens, so you can revisit them in VideoCore. You can clear it or disconnect at any time.
Who this covers
This policy applies to the VideoCore Lens browser extension ("the extension") published by VideoCore (videocore.uk). It is separate from, but works with, your VideoCore account.
What the extension accesses
The YouTube page you're viewing — specifically the public video ID and channel ID — so it can look up that video/channel's public statistics and show you scores and metrics.
A VideoCore sign-in token — created when you click "Sign in with VideoCore". It is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage) and sent only to videocore.uk to authorise your requests. The extension never sees or stores your VideoCore password.
The videos you check (your "Lens History") — while you're signed in, when the Lens shows scores for a YouTube video, that video's ID, title, thumbnail and public stats are saved to your VideoCore account so you can revisit what you've analysed in your Lens History. This history is private to you. It covers only videos you open on YouTube with the extension active — never browsing on other sites.
What it does NOT do
It does not read, collect, or transmit your browsing history on sites other than YouTube.
It does not collect personal information (name, email, location, contacts, financial data).
It does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
It does not post to, modify, or change your YouTube account or any video — it is read-only on YouTube.
It does not use your data for advertising or for any purpose unrelated to showing you VideoCore analytics.
How data is used
Video and channel IDs are sent to VideoCore's servers (videocore.uk/api/extension.php) solely to compute and return the scores and metrics you see in the extension. We use the official YouTube Data API to retrieve public statistics. Requests are tied to your sign-in token only to authenticate you and rate-limit abuse; we keep a minimal record of request counts for that purpose. The videos you check are also saved to your own Lens History (above) so you can revisit them inside VideoCore — this is used only to provide that feature to you and is never sold or shared.
Data storage & retention
Your sign-in token lives in your browser's local extension storage until you sign out or remove the extension. On our servers we retain your VideoCore account's existing data, minimal API-usage counts, and your Lens History (the videos you've checked). Your Lens History is visible only to you; you can clear it, and it is deleted if you delete your account. We do not track or record your browsing on sites other than YouTube, and we do not sell or share any of it.
YouTube
The extension surfaces data derived from the YouTube Data API and public YouTube pages. Your use of YouTube remains governed by YouTube's Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. VideoCore Lens is an independent tool and is not endorsed by or affiliated with YouTube or Google.
Your choices
Disconnect: click the extension icon → Sign out, or revoke the key in Settings → API Keys.
Remove: uninstall the extension from chrome://extensions to stop all access immediately.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the extension's store listing.
