What it does

TL;DR, key points and chapters

One click turns a long video into a short summary: the gist in a couple of sentences, the key points as bullets, and a chapter outline you can scan.

Runs on YOUR device

It uses the AI model built into Chrome itself. The transcript never leaves your browser — no cloud calls, no API keys to paste in, no usage caps from a third-party service.

No account, no sign-up

Install it and use it. There is nothing to register for and nothing that phones home.

Honest about its source

Summaries are built from the video's caption track — the same transcript YouTube shows you. Videos without captions can't be summarised, and the extension says so rather than guessing.

How it works

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store
  2. Open a YouTube video with captions
  3. Press Summarise and read the TL;DR, key points and chapters

Privacy

🔒 Summarisation runs on Chrome's built-in on-device AI. The transcript is processed locally and never sent to any server — VideoCore's or anyone else's.

Questions

Do I need an API key or a paid AI account?

No. It uses the AI model that ships inside Chrome (Gemini Nano), which runs on your own machine. That is the whole point — no keys, no metering, no cloud.

Which videos can it summarise?

Any video with a caption track, which is most of YouTube. Very long videos are summarised from as much of the transcript as the on-device model can hold.

Is the summary as good as a cloud AI?

On-device models are smaller than cloud ones, so summaries are solid rather than spectacular. The trade is privacy and zero cost — nothing leaves your browser, ever.

I make videos — can I get more than a summary?

Yes. A summary tells you what a video says; VideoCore Script Lab tells you which words earned the views — pacing, exit points, hooks, measured against real performance data. Free to try.
